Could you help us make Christmas special for families across the Western Isles who may have little or nothing under the tree on Christmas morning?

Last year we gave 253 parcels to children across the Western Isles, thanks to the wonderful donations given by our community and local businesses. 

We are collecting new and unopened toys and chocolate/treats for this year’s appeal.

There are numerous drop off points across the island including:

• Tesco, Stornoway
• Argos, Stornoway
• Riley's, Stornoway
• Wee Co-op, Stornoway 
• Treetops Cafe, Stornoway Golf Club
• Tarbert Community Centre
• Leverhulme Community Hub
• Cross Stores, Ness

There will be more options coming soon, or you can drop off your donations at The Salvation Army hall on Bayhead. Please contact to arrange a time to meet. 

Every child deserves a new toy this Christmas, let us share with our community. 

Suggested Gift List for Children and Young People

We believe every child deserves a new gift at Christmas so we are unable to take used or second-hand items for the Christmas Present Appeal.

• 0-3 years:  dolls, teddy bears, cot mobiles, baby clothes, bath toys, activity toys and nursery rhymes, puzzles

• 3-5: dolls and action figures, cars, lorries, colouring sets, pencils, crayons, books, puzzles

• 5-9: educational games & toys, stationery (colouring sets, pencils, crayons, school sets), books, puzzles, wordsearch, crosswords

• 9-12: games and toys, stationery, books, board games , hair accessories, gloves, scarves, hats

• 13-16: books, make-up and toiletries (please try to ensure non-allergic ingredients if possible), gloves, scarves, hats, hair accessories activity toys

Over the years, millions of children and young people have benefited from gifts donated to The Salvation Army.

Welcome Wednesdays finishes on 13th November 2024, however it will resume in the New Year. 

Talking about death doesn't bring death closer. It's about planning and knowing that death is a part of life. Being prepared for our own end of life is actually a gift to those we love the most. Without communication and understanding, death and terminal illness can be a lonely and stressful experience, so let's break the taboo and get talking about journeying home and our hope of Heaven.

After the success of our first session last year, we will be hosting another Journeying Home date in 2025. If you are interested in coming along, please get in touch and we will update you when a date has been confirmed.
