Major Gordon Cotterill from Sutton Corp tackled 100 miles at the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 in 2017 in aid of The Salvation Army.

So in one hit I was able to cycle, raise money for The Salvation Army and kid myself that I am still young!

“It is a fabulous event, really well organised and brilliantly supported by Team Sally. I was able to ride as a team with other members of our corps and it was a great feel good factor achieving the 100 miles together.

The levels of support, as you cycle round, from spectators and other riders is memorable as is being able to ride safely on the closed roads around London and then into the Surrey countryside. All of this with 24,000 others! Starting at the iconic London Stadium and finishing on the Mall in front of Buckingham Place is the kind of day you don't forget in a hurry.

While you may feel that it is not possible, with training, a bit of grit and determination you will create a space in your head that will always remember what you achieved.”
