    Secretary of State for Environment visits Hadleigh Farm

    Today The Salvation Army and Essex County Council welcomed Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Caroline Spelman, to the Hadleigh Farm Olympic Mountain Bike Venue to review progress in developing legacy plans working in partnership with Natural England.

    Live Below The Line and help the world's poorest people

    Around the world 1.4 billion people live below the poverty line; in the UK this means existing on just £1 a day. The Salvation Army invites you to do something about it by taking the Live Below The Line challenge to spend just £5 over five days on food and drink, from 07-11 May.

    'Fabulous Baker Brothers' visit Hadleigh Farm

    Stars of Channel Four’s new series ‘The Fabulous Baker Brothers’, Tom and Henry Herbert, visited Hadleigh Training Centre on Tuesday 31 January 2012 to work with Salvation Army trainees and go on a special tour of the official Olympic Mountain Bike course, at Hadleigh Farm. The visit follows the donation of cooking equipment from Appliances Online, used in filming of their hit Channel 4 show, to The Salvation Army centre.

    Government proposals for Alcohol Strategy

    A spokesperson for The Salvation Army said: ‘The Salvation Army warmly welcomes the Alcohol Strategy and the range of measures it proposes to tackle harmful and hazardous drinking, including a minimum price for each unit of alcohol sold. Every day we see the consequences of excess alcohol consumption on the physical and mental health, careers, relationships and family lives of those we help. Many with alcohol problems have often exhausted the kindness of family and friends, and have lost contact with their own children.'
