Together, we can help bring hope to those who are in despair this winter

Helping people who are homeless and inviting them into somewhere safe and warm to stay is what The Salvation Army does best. With your help, we want to make sure that we’re there for as many people as possible this winter.

By giving a gift this winter, you are helping us support people who are homeless and in need.

Help us help people like Connie.

Connie has lived through mental illness, bereavement, an abusive relationship, and homelessness. With the help of The Salvation Army, she has been able to turn her life around.

Following a tough childhood during which she was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and acted as a full-time carer for her grandma, Connie sadly got into an abusive relationship with an older man.

She says: ‘He put me through hell, abusing me physically and mentally. He intimidated me, pulled me away from my friends and got me into cannabis. He also used my bank card and got me into debt.’

After finding the courage to walk out on her abuser, Connie found herself homeless and without anybody to turn to. Thankfully, she was referred to a Salvation Army Lifehouse (residential centre for homeless people), where she found loving friends who comforted her and helped get her life back on track.

Connie is smiling as she holds her youngest child, they are both decorating a Christmas tree. There are fairy lights in the background.

We want to reach out to people like Connie who are suffering the most by bringing joy and hope into their lives. In over 600 communities across the UK, we will be doing all we can for them, whatever their circumstances.

Thank you for donating to our Winter Appeal, whatever you can give will help us be there for the people who need us most.

91p out of every pound donated is spent on supporting vulnerable people in communities across the country.
