Waste Collection Recycling and Disposal in the Hall
There are now General Waste, Recycling, and Food Waste bins in the kitchen and in the Hub. Please use these bins correctly. There are clear, biodegradable food waste bags for the Food Waste bins in a clearly marked cardboard box in the cleaning cupboard. Please use them to avoid messing the Food Waste bins and ask if you don’t know where the cleaning cupboard is! We can continue to use black bin bags in the General Waste bins, and there is no need for a bag in the Recycling bins. For the present, Food Waste will need to continue to be put in the external General Waste bin until the new external Food Waste bin arrives.

Building Update
The DHQ Hub, toilet and shower refurbishment, and the Planned Maintenance Project (PMP) work continues. The main toilets and shower should be completed by the end of this week. The DHQ Hub is a couple of weeks away from the main work being finished. Redecoration continues in the Main Hall and elsewhere. The two rear toilets are finished and can be used. The hot water heaters have now been commissioned, and the soap dispensers should be on the walls soon. For health and safety reasons, PLEASE DO NOT allow curiosity to get the better of you and open the doors into the new DHQ Hub. It is a building site and should be treated accordingly. The new disabled toilet is also in use. Thank you again for your continued patience – the end is coming into view!
Quench Pop Up Book Stall
Quench will be "popping up" in the Hub Community Café this Thursday (20 March). Pop Up Charity Shop & Coffee Morning – March 2025
In view of Don’s impending treatment and the continued disruption in and around the Community Hall, we have taken the decision to cancel this month’s Charity Shop and Coffee Morning. We should be back to normal in April.

Captain’s Log - 16 March
Answering God's Call: From Vision to Action
Last week we explored the transformative experiences of Isaiah and Peter when they encountered God's presence. We learned how these encounters led to confession, forgiveness, and ultimately, a willingness to answer God's call. We emphasised that our own encounters with God's awesomeness should similarly lead us through a process of worship, confession, and readiness to serve.
Takeaways:
- Encountering God's holiness naturally leads to an awareness of our own imperfections, prompting confession and seeking forgiveness.
- God's forgiveness frees us from fear and prepares us for new beginnings and opportunities to serve him.
- Answering God's call requires willingness to go where he sends us and share his message with others.
As we move forward this week, let's continue to reflect on how we respond to God's presence in our lives. Are we open to confessing our shortcomings? Do we embrace the forgiveness he offers? And most importantly, are we ready to answer his call with a resounding "Here I am, send me!"?
May we all be inspired to seek those "Wow!" moments with God this week and allow them to transform us into willing servants of his message.
Blessings.
Rob

Captain’s Log - 23 March
Investing in God's Growth Fund
Last week we explored the concept of "Investing in God's Growth Fund,” focusing our thoughts around Isaiah 55:1-13. We emphasised the importance of using our resources, particularly money, to cultivate spiritual maturity and personal growth rather than seeking satisfaction in material possessions. The message highlighted God's invitation to find true fulfilment in him and challenged us to invest in our character development, which has eternal value.
Takeaways:
- God wants us to use our money purposefully, including investing in our spiritual growth and character development.
- Material possessions and worldly pursuits cannot provide lasting satisfaction; only God can truly fulfil us.
- We should plan our finances to include investments in our spiritual maturity, such as purchasing Christian literature, attending conferences, or developing God-given skills.
As we move forward this week, let's continue to consider how we can reallocate our resources to invest more in God's Growth Fund. Remember, while we can't take material possessions with us to heaven, our character and spiritual growth have eternal significance.
May God bless you as you seek to grow in him.

‘I made you wonderful’
This year’s World Day of Prayer, marked on 7 March, focused on the theme of us being wonderfully made by God. The women of the Cook Islands, who chose the theme, also wrote a song to accompany it. As you read the words, reflect on the different nuances which emerge when the pronoun is changed in each verse:
I am fearfully made, and wonderfully made. Marvellous are your works, that my soul knows very well, and I’ll praise you all my days.
You are fearfully made, and wonderfully made. Marvellous are God’s works, that my soul knows very well, and I’ll praise God all my days.
We are fearfully made, and wonderfully made. Marvellous are God’s works, that my soul knows very well, and I’ll praise God all my days.
