Tuesday

• 9:00am, 10:15am and 11:30am Pilates classes - booking required (Lottie / 07717 740891). This group is a room hire group. 
• 2:00 - 4:00pm Sewing Sisters - Quilting, needlework and knitting group.  
• 7:30pm - 8:30pm Open Word - Bible and Faith issues Study Group.

• 10:00am - 1:00pm Open Door - Community Drop-In providing access to our Parish Nurse, Employment Plus, Benefits advice, Digital Champions, In-Work Support, Training, Wellbeing, Money Management, free WiFi & Food Bank.
• 10:00am - 1:00pm Welcome Space providing a friendly & informal place with Board games, Newspapers/Books, free Wifi, opportunity to Chat/Meet New People, Pastoral Support/Prayer, Complimentary drinks & biscuits with a modest charge for cakes, bakes & fruit.
• 8:00pm Band Practice.

Friday

• 10:00am - 11:00am Bereavement Support Group.

Saturday

• 10.00am - 12:00pm Solo LInk - Social group for those who live alone. (alternate weeks).  For further information, contact Erica 01263 663427.

The Salvation Army works with some of the most vulnerable people in society. As we continue to face healthcare challenges, high fuel costs and other problems, people on the margins need us now more than ever.

From running food banks and checking up on people who live alone and giving practical and spiritual support, Salvation Army churches all over the country are responding to the crisis in dozens of different ways.

In Sheringham we provide a Foodbank (by appointment 10am-12pm) and in January 2023 we opened our Sheringham Food Club. Its purpose is to make food available for sale at substantially reduced prices to help people struggling with the rising cost of living and particularly those on a low income.  Toiletries will also be on sale.  Fresh fruit and vegetables with some other items are free to members when purchasing other items. A limited supply of sanitary products will be free.  

In January 2024 we opened our Welcome Space  (Thursdays 10am-1pm) offering locals a safe place to stay warm, have a hot drink or snack and meet new people.  Visitors can join in with board games, read the papers, knit, use the WIFI, speak to church leaders or sit and have time to be quiet or reflect. There is no need to book - just pop in.

Our Welcome Space adds another layer of support for vulnerable individuals or those who have been affected by the ongoing cost of living crisis and will operate concurrently with our existing Community Drop-In advice sessions and Food Club (Community Store).

Simon Fenn, community manager, believes the warm space will strengthen The Salvation Army’s existing support for the community.  He said: "We are really pleased to be able to run a Welcome Space as it will complement our existing community programme and offer a comprehensive, person-centred, approach to connecting with our local communities demonstrating God's unconditional love and compassion."

What is Sheringham Food Club?

Sheringham Food Club is a ‘not for profit’ social enterprise set up by Sheringham Corps of The Salvation Army in partnership with Norfolk Community Foundation and other partners/donors.

Why a food club?

Its purpose is to make food available for sale at substantially reduced prices to help people during the current financial crisis and particularly for those on a low income. We aim to offer some fresh fruit and vegetables and some other items free to members. A limited supply of sanitary products will be free.  Toiletries will also be on sale.  

Who can join?

Membership isn’t means-tested and we are prioritising households within the NR26 postcode and surrounding villages. Since it is a ‘Club’, there is a fee (£5) renewable in January each year.  We need a few personal details and your agreement to abide by a few simple rules.

How can l join?

The Application forms are available at The Salvation Army Hall and/or Charity Shop.  Once completed, please bring your form & £5 to the ‘Sheringham Food Club’ which is opposite The Salvation Army Hall (Cremer Street).  Please reminder to bring some shopping bags with you. 

How often can l shop at the club?

There is no limit to the number of your visits.  We may apply a maximum weekly spend based upon your household size.  Free items are only available in conjunction with purchased goods on the same visit.

Local support for jobseekers

We provide information and practical guidance for people looking for work.

As a leading provider within the voluntary sector we provide a bridge between people affected by unemployment and the local labour market. 

Employment Plus (E+) Local is a church-led initiative providing a local centre where people experiencing unemployment can find information and guidance on their journey into employment within a supportive environment.

Attending an E+ Local is entirely voluntary and the service is available to any person who is looking for work.  We run our Employment Plus as an integrated part of our weekly Thursday morning Community Drop-In (10am-1pm).  To book an appointment with our team, please call on 01263 826059 or just pop-in .

Activities at an E+ Local deliver back-to-work support and provide computers and internet facilities to assist job searches and the Government’s digital inclusion strategy.

Local Salvation Army churches and community centres seek to serve the community in which they are based. When people come through our doors asking for help with issues such as unemployment, we feel we need to do something about it. Employment Plus Local is testament to our desire to give people in need time, support and compassion.
