Debt advice

Authorised and Regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority

The aim of The Salvation Army Debt Advice Service is to assist those who are struggling with their finances. We can help with a wide range of financial difficulties, from learning how to budget, to solving serious debt problems.

Our advice is free, confidential and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Who do we help?

We will help anyone who is concerned about their debts and will work with them to find a solution to free them of debt. Since 2014 we have helped those who have owed a few hundred to those owing many thousands of pounds.

We also help anyone who is worried about their finances and would like some budgeting support.

How do we help?

We provide impartial, confidential, not-for-profit debt advice that is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We have a 'judgement free' approach to debt. Appointment can be in person at 25 centres in the UK. Alternatively, if one of our centres is not nearby then telephone appointments are available wherever you are in the UK.

Please see the links below for local centres or the contact for the telephone service. Our experienced, trained advisors will be pleased to hear from you.

During the initial appointments we will gain an understanding of the level and type of your debt and identify any urgent issues that need to be dealt with promptly

We will discuss your financial situation with you, review your income, expenditure and what you owe.  We will investigate all debt solutions available to you and empower you to decide on appropriate debt solution.

With your permission we will contact creditors and other third parties on your behalf, relieving you of this overhead. In addition to money matters, many of our centres help in other ways such as obtaining food parcels and referring people to employment advice services.

Whatever the level of debt you have, we encourage you to talk to us.
