Glen Alva Family Centre Lifehouse

Our service is available for those who have presented as homeless to the Housing Executive. It is intended for families, but we don't use a rigid definition for what constitutes a family.

Referred to the centre are made by by The Housing Executive – and, in an emergency, an out-of-hours Social Worker Team.

We aim to create a calm, supportive environment where our residents feel empowered and respected. Our facilities include:

• 1 x flat with 2 bed spaces

• 8 x flats with 3 bed spaces

• 4 x flats with 4 bed spaces

• 7 x flats with 5 bed spaces

• 1 x communal lounge & play ground

• 1 x laundry facility with 2 washing machines and 2 tumble dryers – token operated

At Glen Alva, each family is assigned a qualified Key Worker, who works alongside the family to complete support plans and risk assessments. Once these have been set up, families are referred to the external support agencies. 

The centre also has a number of packages that are available for each family. These include:

• Assertiveness 
• Anger management 
• DIY Easy 
• Basic Food Hygiene 
• Drugs/Alcohol advice
• Job Search Skills
• Self Esteem
