Meet the leadership team
Songster Leader Dorothy Nancekievill
Dorothy Nancekievill (HON RAM) is the leader of the International Staff Songsters and has served in this role 2003. She grew up in Glasgow and attended Paisley, Parkhead and Govan Corps. As a student she attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Glasgow University. Post-graduate study then took Dorothy to the South West of England and Bristol Easton Corps. After six years at Bromley Temple Corps, Dorothy returned to worshipping at Bristol Easton Corps.
Dorothy has had a long professional career in education, most recently as Head of Farringtons School in Kent and previously as Director of Music at Wells Cathedral School. During her time at Wells, Dorothy's contribution to music education was acknowledged with the award of an Honorary Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
She is currently a governor at Wells Cathedral and Kingswood School and a consultant appraiser for academic leaders.
Dorothy’s motivation is that the ISS should excite and comfort their listeners, in times of joy and sadness. She is committed to ensuring the ISS continue to sing 'heart songs' that challenge, inspire and encourage.
Executive Officer Major Lisa Lloyd Jones
‘Shout your praises to God, everybody!
Let loose and sing!.’ (Psalm 98:4 The Message).
Music has been significant in Lisa's life - from singing nursery rhymes, the earliest of prayers in ‘Gentle Jesus Meek and Mild’ at bedtime, to the whole range of music that can be found on her playlists today.
Lisa has served as a Salvation Army officer for more than 28 years: as a Corps Officer in Stirling, Maddiston, Coventry and Croydon; at Divisional Headquarters as a Youth Officer, Family Officer, Candidates Officer and, Divisional Leader; at Territorial Headquarters as Youth Secretary and currently the Officer Department in the Personnel Service. She is married to Mike and they have three adult children.
Music is often the way we learn scripture or feel the Holy Spirit stirring our hearts. When listening to music and sharing with the ISS, Lisa encourages us to be intentional in seeking God’s presence.
