Songster Leader Dorothy Nancekievill
Dorothy was appointed leader of the ISS in 2003. She finds the role to be a great privilege and responsibility.
She grew up in Glasgow, Scotland, and attended Paisley, Parkhead and Govan Corps (churches). Dorothy studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Glasgow University. Postgraduate study subsequently bringing her to the South-West of England and Bristol Easton Corps. She currently attends Bromley Temple Corps.
In January 2015, Dorothy was appointed the Head of Farringtons School in Chislehurst, Kent, having previously been the Director of Music at Wells Cathedral School where she worked with many of the best young musicians and teachers from around the world.
Her work with young people includes being part of Salvation Army music schools in the UK and the Western, Eastern and Southern Territories in the United States.
Dorothy is married to Gary and they have two sons, Matthew and David.
Executive Officer Lieut-Colonel Jayne Roberts
The ISS is delighted to be supported by Jayne, who is the Secretary for Spiritual Life Development. Her role includes teaching at various events includes the Brengle Institute and working closely with The Salvation Army's prayer network.
Jayne has been a Salvation Army officer for 33 years and is married to Jonathan, the current Editor of Salvationist. They have served as corps officers at Caterham, Plumstead, Cwmbran and Cardiff Canton and in divisional leadership in East Midlands.
Four years at IHQ gave Jayne the opportunity to learn new skills as Editor of The Salvation Army Year Book and study for a Masters degree in Christian Spirituality at Heythrop College. Two years in personnel work in East Scotland preceded an appointment as Assistant Chief Secretary. Jayne and Jonathan have four adult children: Daniel, who is married and lives in Brazil; and three daughters - Sonia, Joanna and Rebecca - who live in the London area. Jayne attends Croydon Citadel Corps.
