Monday 

09:30 until 11:30 - Tiny Tots* - CURRENTLY CLOSED - REOPENS ON 13 JANUARY

Our popular parent and toddler group (ages 0-4). Cost is £2 per family, fruit/toast snack provided. You need to be registered with us to attend, but please be aware that there is a number limit of 28 children on the session in order to keep everyone safe.

13:00 until 14:30 - Gentle Exercise, followed by refreshments and an opportunity to chat CURRENTLY CLOSED - REOPENS ON 13 JANUARY

• 13:00 – 14:00 A chair-based gentle exercise session - the focus is on breathing and mobility, as well as strengthening core muscles, arms and legs.
• 14:00 – 14:45 After the session there is normally the opportunity to pick up some vegetables and fruit and get a cup of tea and a piece of cake to recharge yourself!

Wednesday

10:00 until 12:00 - Kilburn Community Wardrobe (referrals from postcodes NW6, NW10 and W9 only) CURRENTLY CLOSED - REOPENS ON 15 JANUARY

Our clothing scheme in Kilburn supports vulnerable residents as the cost of living crisis continues. Working through referrals from local authorities, medical centres and local community groups, our volunteers recycle and redistribute items in good condition to those in need and struggling to clothe themselves or their families.

Come along and try your hand at table tennis. Whether a first-time learner or an old pro, you are welcome to come and join with others in our little sporting community.

Here we provide information about how Kilburn Salvation Army can help with a range of issues being faced by our community today.

It is our aim to address the root cause of need and restore independence to everyone, so that life can be lived to the full (John 10:10).

Please note that wherever we give practical assistance we will be asking for some basic personal details (name, DOB, address and contact number) and why you are needing the help, in order to be able to keep a record of the help that we are being asked for and what help we are providing. Food

Whilst we do not currently offer a Foodbank service at Kilburn Salvation Army, we can:

• Refer you to a local Trussell Trust Foodbank and give information about other local foodbanks.
• Make an appointment with our Employment Plus Advice Service who can help with advice on benefits, money management, and employment and training.

Energy costs

Whilst we do not currently offer energy top ups at Kilburn Salvation Army, we can:

• Signpost you to information about help with bills that is available elsewhere, such as from your energy supplier or local authority.
• Make an appointment with our Employment Plus Advice Service who can help with advice on benefits, money management, and employment and training.

Finding accommodation

Whilst we cannot refer you into accommodation or provide accommodation directly at Kilburn Salvation Army, we can:

• Signpost you to advice on contacting your local authority in order to make a housing application.
• Provide other useful contact numbers for those who can help in finding accommodation. 
• Make an appointment with our Employment Plus Advice Service who can help with advice on benefits, money management, and employment and training.

Toiletries (restricted to referrals from postcodes NW6, NW10 and W9)

We keep a stock of toiletries ranging from shower gels to shampoos, deodorants, toothpaste, and more. We also currently provide sanitary towels and incontinence pads.

Therefore, we can:

• Provide you with a selection of toiletries (up to 4 times a year)
• Make an appointment with our Employment Plus Advice Service who can help with advice on benefits, money management, and employment and training.

Our sister church at Notting Hill (205 Portobello Road) has shower facilities which can be used when available. Please let us know if you are interested in making use of this.

Clothing (restricted to referrals from postcodes NW6, NW10 and W9)

We keep a stock of second-hand clothing for people of all ages and sizes. Clothing includes: t-shirts, jumpers, trousers, skirts, coats, shoes, hats, scarves and other accessories.

Therefore, we can:

• Provide a seasonal selection of clothing (up to three times per year)

Please note, that availability of clothing sizes and items depends on demand and supply which is primarily through donations.

Bedding (restricted to referrals from postcodes NW6, NW10 and W9)

We keep a stock of second-hand bedding sheets of all bed sizes, duvets, pillows and sleeping bags. 

Therefore, we can:

• Provide a selection of bedding (up to twice a year)

Please note, that availability of some bedding items depends on demand and supply which is primarily through donations.

Small kitchen items

We have a stock of small kitchen items such as: cups, plates, knives and forks, oven dishes, etc.

Therefore, we can:

• Provide a selection of these items as needed.

Please note, that we do not provide electrical items or appliances.

Are you looking to donate to Kilburn Salvation Army? 

So many in our community are so kind and regularly donate a variety of things to us for passing on to those in need. This includes: money, clothing, food and toiletries. Here is a bit more information about what you can donate, when you can donate it and what happens to it.

Firstly, please note, we DO NOT accept: 

• furniture (of any size or type); 
• mattresses, duvets or pillows (hygiene reasons); 
• electrical items
• white goods.

Also note, we DO NOT have a collection service to pick up donations.

What can you donate?

MONETARY DONATION: If you are looking to make a monetary donation then you can do that by either calling during our opening hours: Monday 8.30-3pm, Weds 9-6.30pm and Sunday 9-1.30pm. Outside of those hours the building can be accessed and any donations can be safely left in the letterbox.

CLOTHING ITEMS:

• We accept: clothing and shoes (all ages and sizes).
• We ask that all clothing and bedding items should be clean and in good order; those that are not cannot be used to help others.
• Any clothing not suitable for our Community Wardrobe project or able to be passed on locally is sent to our warehouses in the UK to be recycled or redistributed to the Salvation Army charity shops across the UK.

BEDDING:

• We accept: bedding sheets (all types and sizes)
• We ask that it is clean and in good condition.
• We do not accept mattresses, duvets, sleeping bags or pillows, unless the item is new and still boxed / wrapped.
• Any bedding not suitable for our Community Wardrobe project or able to be passed on locally is sent to our warehouses in the UK to be recycled or redistributed to the Salvation Army charity shops across the UK.

TOILETRIES:

• We accept: soap, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, wipes, toilet roll, tissues.

FOOD:

• We accept: non-perishable staples such as long life milk, pasta, rice, chopped tomatoes, breakfast cereals, tinned veg and fruit.
• We ask that any food donations are in date, unopened, unused.
• Although we do not operate a foodbank, we do provide an emergency food bag where needed and so it is helpful to have a little surplus food.

We are at the heart of the local community, providing a warm welcome and an offer of hope to everyone. Many of our programmes are run by volunteers, and whatever your skills or passions are we can find a role for you!

Energy bills are set to double - many have already been impacted by the rise in energy costs. You can get help!

These energy suppliers offer grants to their customers:

• British Gas Energy Trust - apply for a grant on the British Gas Energy Trust website

• Scottish Power Hardship Fund - apply for a grant on the Scottish Power Hardship Fund website
• Ovo Energy Fund - apply for a grant on the Ovo Energy Fund website

• E.ON Energy Fund - apply for a grant on the E.ON Energy Fund website
• E.ON Next Energy Fund - apply for a grant on the E.ON Next Energy Fund website

• EDF Energy Customer Support Fund - apply for a grant on the EDF Energy Customer Support Fund website

If you can’t get a grant from your supplier, check if you can get a grant from the British Gas Energy Trust. These are available to anyone - you don’t even have to be a British Gas customer!

If you need further help you can book an appointment with an employment plus adviser who is with us each Wednesday and is based at Kilburn Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army is a Christian organisation and part of the universal Christian Church.

We believe in the immortality of the soul; in the resurrection of the body; in the general judgment at the end of the world; in the eternal happiness of the righteous; and in the endless punishment of the wicked.
