BBC4 documentary explores faith, virtue and life in The Salvation Army

A new 90 minute observational documentary about The Salvation Army will be broadcast on BBC 4 on Tuesday, 7th January.
God's Cadets - Joining The Salvation Army takes us inside William Booth Training College as we meet the individuals and families who give up their jobs and leave their homes to dedicate their lives to Jesus and The Army.
Made by the BAFTA award-winning production company Truevision (Poor Kids, Golden Oldies) and directed and produced by Nick Poyntz (Sandhurst), God's Cadets portrays The Salvation Army through the officers and cadets who agreed to be involved, as warm, human, open and honest about personal faith journeys and most certainly committed to our mission of saving souls, growing saints and serving suffering humanity.
The subtle and sensitive film also explores the universal questions of virtue, faith, doubt and the nature of salvation. The new recruits adjust to the life in the Army, and explain their stories of God's personal calling, the transformation that led them to take this leap of faith, and the doubts they face.
Lieut-Colonel Marion Drew, Secretary for Communications, explains: "We began working with award-winning documentary makers Nick Poyntz and Truevision 12 months ago. We felt that the film would give viewers of BBC 4 an insight into a side of our vibrant, friendly and open church which is not often seen.
"The result is a thought-provoking, warm and honest portrayal of our church and charity and I hope that by inviting viewers of BBC4 to see the dedication of The Salvation Army's officers and cadets and the work we do, it will enable us to engage with new audiences and further our mission."
God's Cadets - Joining The Salvation Army will be broadcast on Tuesday 7th January, on BBC 4 television at 9pm.
We also look forward to The Minister's Wife, a second observational documentary about The Salvation Army, which will be broadcast in Scotland with BBC Alba on 6th January.
