Gareth Thomas MP visits Harrow Salvation Army

Gareth Thomas, MP for Harrow West, met with people from Harrow corps (church) on Wednesday, April 6 at their weekly drop in lunch which offers a meal and companionship and supports people who are vulnerable in the community, including several people experiencing homelessness.

The church, in Roxeth Hill, also runs a variety of community services during the week. The work of the church was enhanced in 2013 when the church reopened following an extensive refurbishment. The Salvation Army first arrived in Harrow in 1887.

Gareth Thomas MP, said: “I was delighted to meet staff and service users at the Harrow Corps drop-in lunch this week. I enjoyed learning about the range of activities and programmes run from the centre. The Salvation Army has been a force for good in the local community for well over a hundred years; long may this continue.”

Chris Scott, Divisional Director for Community Services, said: “We have a long history of offering practical support to people who are vulnerable or in need in Harrow. Today our support includes the provision of food parcels, older peoples groups, and our drop in lunch which offers a listening ear and compassionate support to several people in need and experiencing homelessness in Harrow.”
