New partnership signifies commitment to fire safety

The Salvation Army is partnering with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service for fire safety advice at all of its locations across England and Wales.

Today marked the signing of a Primary Authority Agreement which sees the church and charity working together with the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) to create a fire safety framework to use across all its locations. The ECFRS will also be the single point of contact for fire safety regulation and advice for the Salvation Army in England and Wales.

The scheme has been created as part of the Government’s ‘Better Business for all’ agenda, allowing organisations to work with one fire and rescue service throughout England and Wales to create clear and consistent fire policies across their sites and enabling a close and productive working relationship.

Under the agreement ECFRS will assist The Salvation Army in achieving a high level of safety compliance at all of its sites in England and Wales.

The Salvation Army’s Chief Secretary Colonel David Hinton said: “We are committed to taking fire safety seriously across our organisation, and look forward to working with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service for their expertise, advice and support in this area.”

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Paul Hill from the ECFRS said: “The Salvation Army are a huge organisation with tens of thousands of members, thousands of employees and dozens of sites and we look forward to helping them stay fire safe as they carry out the fantastic work they do to help communities across the country.”

The agreement comes in addition to the church and charity’s existing partnerships with Chelmsford City Council regarding food safety and health and safety.
