The Salvation Army in Carmarthen are planning big for 2025

published on 28 Jan 2025

The new Community Manager at The Salvation Army in Carmarthen says she aims to reach even more people in the area who need help and support in 2025.

Carolyn Yelland took up the role three months ago and has big plans.

Carolyn spent her childhood in Carmarthen and after teaching Information Technology at a local Secondary School worked in the town at Towy Community Church and The Trussell Trust. She plans to use her local knowledge to make sure more people can access the help they need at The Salvation Army’s buildings on Llammas Street in the heart of Carmarthen.

I’ve found a very real and practical sense of support at The Salvation Army, which is most satisfying. We can help those who need it directly and quickly.

“We are planning to launch a couple of new events. We will expand our Drop-In advice sessions with more outside agencies offering their expertise to run alongside those we already host on housing, job seeking and addictions. I’d love someone from a healthcare background to run a new workshop on healthy eating and we are going to start other workshops such as art & crafts. One of my key priorities is to work in partnership with others who can offer something new and helpful.

“It makes a massive difference being on the main Street in the town. People know where we are. We have two buildings. One is a charity shop and café, while next door is our church and community centre. It’s two spaces which feed into each other. So far, I’ve found a very real and practical sense of support at The Salvation Army, which is most satisfying. We can help those who need it directly and quickly.”
