Glebe Court

Glebe Court has accommodation for up to 40 people with the ethos of a mixed community within a Christian environment. The service is aimed at older people, we will also consider the needs of people who are younger but whose needs present as that of an older person. Staff have particular strength in delivering care for people living with Dementia, who are frail or who have been homeless in the past. Each person will be offered an assessment before deciding to move in to ensure we can meet their individual needs. The home has strong links with a local hospice and receives training and support to care for people at the end of their lives.   

Each of our bedrooms has full en-suite facilities, in addition there are accessible bathrooms on each of the floors, there are 4 communal lounges/dining rooms, 2 activities rooms, including quiet space for prayer room, hairdresser, enclosed private garden, toilets and accessible bathrooms.

The home has a full programme of activities which are tailored around the aspirations, life history and interests of our residents, we offer a programme of group and individual activities. Staff are allocated 2.5 hours per week to spend time, inside or outside of the home, with residents for whom they are keyworker for.

Many older people take great comfort from the faith that has sustained them.  We will ensure that the older people we care for are supported in their faith and love for God by providing opportunities for prayer and ministry on a daily basis, this forms part of the structure of our activities in the home and we are supported by our chaplain who has a special interest in our spiritual programme.

The Management within the home consists of the Home manager (the Registered Manager), Head of Care and Administration Manager. They are available daily from 8am through to 5pm weekdays and on some evenings and weekends.  Management are available on call in case they need to attend the home in the event of an emergency.

Throughout the day a Team Leader leads the shift and takes responsibility for the staff and residents. They are supported by a team of care staff. The number of staff may differ; this is determined by needs of residents.  We use an evidenced based tool to determine staffing levels.  Care staff work 7am -2pm and 2pm -9pm. Management staff are supernumerary.

Night staff are on duty from 9pm- 7am, they are also supported by an on call team leader if they need any further support.

We have an Activities Leader and a Salvation Army Chaplain who work closely with the care team to provide a service to the residents and to give them the opportunity to be active and engage in activities on a daily basis.

All staff are qualified and undertake mandatory and additional training throughout the year in order to provide a high standard of care taking into account current legislation, guidelines and practice.

The Directors of the Older People’s Services provide 24 hour on call support to the home.
