If an individual is homeless, they can apply for help to the council. How much help they will get depends on their circumstances. If they don’t meet immigration and residence conditions, the council only has to provide general advice and information. It’s usually best to contact the council by phone first. An individual can make a homelessness application if they are homeless or will be homeless within eight weeks (56 days).
