The Salvation Army is an active Christian Church which is open to everyone.  Whilst the majority of the congregation will be members of The Salvation Army, you will be made very welcome.

We would like to invite you to join us for one of our Sunday worship services

  • 10:30am - 11:45am Morning Worship

  • 5:30pm - 6:30pm Evening Worship

Both meetings will include congregational singing, accompanied by the piano or band, prayer, Bible readings and testimony.


Sunday Outreach

Once a month, a small group of musicians also provides music in Tesco.  Members are also available to talk or pray with you.  Please do come and say ‘Hello’ from 12.00pm – 12.30pm.

There is also a monthly short service held at Chillingham House, Mulgrave Drive, Sunderland from 12.15pm – 1.00pm. 

Activities for Children


Children’s activities for ages 3-13 begin part way through the morning meeting, from 11am, and finish at 11.45pm.

  • Primary

This group is for under 7s and includes fun and creative Bible teaching, music and craft.

  • Sunday Club

Sunday Club is for children ages 7-13 and includes games, interactive Bible teaching, creative prayer and crafts.

  • Kids Alive Club

This group for 5-12 year olds meets every Thursday from 6-7pm.  Activites include games, crafts, stories and sprcial interest topics.  Brass instrument music lessons are also provided from 7.00-7.30pm..

Weekdays and Special Events

  • Monday

    • 12pm - 1pm Luncheon Club
      • Call in and enjoy a hot meal and pudding, enjoy the company and make new friends.  This group is open to all ages and the cost is £2.50.

    • 1:30pm - 2pm Home League Prayer Circle
      • The Prayer Circle is a group of women who meet every week to pray for people with particular concerns.  If you would like your name, or the name of someone else, added to the prayer list please call or text 07708160264.  We don’t require further details unless you wish to give these.

    • 2pm - 3pm Home League
      • This group begins with refreshments at 2.00pm.  This is followed by an informal meeting for ladies; with hymns, stories and activities on an interesting or topical theme.

    • 7:30pm - 9pm Ladies Fellowship
      • 1st week in the month

        • This is a popular group for ladies of all ages.  It offers friendship and refreshments with regular guest speakers and activities.  There are also regular open nights which are open to men and women.

    • 8pm - 9pm House Group Bible Study
      • 2nd week in the month

      • An informal look at scripture with discussion on a given theme.

    • 6:30pm - 7:30pm YP Band Practice
    • 8pm - 10pm Senior Band Practice
  • Thursday

    • 9:30am - 11am Bright Sparks Toddler Group
      • If you are a parent, grandparent or carer and want to bring your child to a safe, fun environment, come and join us at one of our toddler groups on a Thursday.  We offer a wide variety of toys, crafts and activities for pre-school children.  Refreshments include toast, juice and biscuits for the children and tea or coffee for the adults.  We finish the morning with singing and music. 

    • 1:15pm - 2.45pm Bright SparksToddler Group
    • 8pm - 9:30pm Songster Practice
  • Friday

    • 10am - 12:30pm Coffee Morning
      • Coffee Morning with delicious home baked cakes, scones and savouries with tea and coffee.  All items just 50p each.
