We provide a positive, psychologically informed environment where young people are able to explore their support needs, developing skills to move on to independent living.
A support plan entitled “My Life My Choice” forms the basis of our young person’s support.
This plan identifies goals for residents to work towards, encourages them to make decisions about their lives, and helps them find solutions to their housing and support needs.
Amongst other topics, our support sessions look at:
- Substance misuse
- Mental health
- Harm reduction
- Anger management
- Self-esteem and confidence building
- Sexual health
- Healthy relationships
- Independent living skills
- Education
- Training and employment
- Meaningful use of time.
Staff are trained in various therapeutic techniques.
Tenancy programme
We run a tenancy training programme which helps residents acquire independent living skills, such as cooking, budgeting, bill paying, cleaning, household maintenance and safety, communication and problem solving.
Our practical life skills course is accredited via the Open College Network.
Young people living at Ty Diogel are also able to access the education training and employment programme at Northlands.
