We believe that every human being, created and valued by God, should be given respect, dignity and neighbourly love. As such The Salvation Army is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and well-being of children, young people and adults within all of our programmes.
Reporting Concerns
We are committed to preventing, identifying and responding to the abuse and neglect of children, young people and adults and we take all concerns seriously.
If you see, hear, witness, suspect or are told directly that a child, young person or adult has been harmed or neglected, is being harmed or neglected, is at risk of harm or if you are concerned that an individual presents a risk of harm you should contact the Police on 999.
If your concern is in relation to The Salvation Army contact should then also be made with The Salvation Army Safeguarding Department:

All other safeguarding concerns relating to The Salvation Army should be referred to The Salvation Army Safeguarding Department. Following this contact with the Police, Statutory and Regulatory Authorities may be made.
Protecting children and young people
We are committed to protecting children and young people by:
- Ensuring that the child/young person’s welfare is and always will be the paramount consideration as everyone has a right to be protected from abuse and neglect
- Providing a safe environment with leaders that adhere to good safeguarding practice
- Empowering children and young people to ‘have a voice’ by actively encouraging them to think about how to keep themselves safe and how to protect themselves and their peers from inappropriate behaviour shown by adults or other children or youth
- Offering informed pastoral care to those affected by abuse by a person connected to The Salvation Army or within a Salvation Army programme
- Ensuring that children/young people and carers are informed of our policy and procedures
- Taking all allegations of abuse seriously and responding without delay by reporting to the police or statutory authorities as required.
