Horden

Church & Community Centre

Welcome to the Horden Salvation Army Corps, where we are dedicated to serving our community with compassion and support. As both a church and a community centre, we provide a welcoming space for all, offering practical help, spiritual care, and a sense of belonging. Whether you're seeking assistance with poverty, homelessness, or simply looking for a place to connect, we're here for you. Together, we aim to uplift and strengthen individuals and families in Horden and the surrounding areas, sharing hope, kindness, and the love of God.

Join us in making a meaningful difference in our community by becoming a volunteer at Horden Salvation Army Corps. Whether you can offer a few hours a week or more, your time and skills can help us make a difference from just participating to lending a hand in our community programs. Volunteering is a rewarding way to give back, build connections, and be a part of something that truly changes lives. Together, we can create a stronger, more caring community. Come and be a part of the work we're doing!

You can make a difference by donating to our emergency food bank, which supports individuals and families in need. We welcome donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries, as well as new toys and clothing for children. Every contribution helps provide essentials to those facing difficult times, bringing relief and hope to our community. Your generosity can make a lasting impact—thank you for your support!

🎄 2024 Christmas Present Appeal 🎁

As we approach this Christmas season, the impact of the cost of living crisis continues to weigh heavily on families in our community. This year, more than ever, we are seeing a growing number of referrals to our annual Toy Appeal in Horden. Our goal is to provide Christmas presents to children and teenagers across East Durham who might otherwise go without during the festive period due to financial hardship. In addition, we will be offering food parcels to families in need, not only for Christmas but throughout the entire year.

Thanks to your incredible support last year, we were able to give over 500 children more than one gift to open on Christmas morning. This year, we are starting early in anticipation of an even greater demand.

We are accepting donations of new toys and presents for children, as well as food items to help stock our food parcel bank. You can find donation bins at various locations in Peterlee, listed below.

With the great success of the Amazon wish lists in previous years; you can once again donate a new toy or gift from the comfort of your sofa. We have a range of Amazon wish lists for different ages in which you can buy a present online and have it delivered to us. This can also be used to give you inspiration for things you can donate. These links can be found below...

If you wish to make a monetary donation you can now do this online by clicking the link to our Just Giving Christmas appeal page to support the work of you're local Salvation Army in Horden.

If you have any questions at all or wish to drop off a donation at our centre directly, please don't hesitate to contact us.📞. Thank you all for your support in your community once again and have a Merry Christmas. 🎄🎅
