MSP salutes the Salvation Army

A member of the Scottish parliament has submitted a parliamentary motion commending the Salvation Army for its work in Scotland and the wider world. The motion by West Scotland region MSP Maurice Golden follows the recent visit of General André Cox to the west of Scotland.    

The motion reads: "The Parliament commends the Salvation Army on its contributions to communities in Scotland and globally; recognises what it sees as its dedication to provide compassionate support for people most in need; highlights its provision of health and social care services, including holistic support for people with addiction problems, family tracing services and other successful programmes throughout the world; welcomes the recent visit of the world leader of the Salvation Army, General André Cox, to the West Scotland region, and wishes everyone connected with the Salvation Army all the best for the future."  

Maurice Golden MSP said: “I was honoured to welcome General André Cox to the West of Scotland. The Salvation Army provides a range of excellent services and support that benefits Scotland. I am pleased Parliament has recognised their invaluable place in our society.”  

Major Raelton Gibbs, Divisional Commander of the Salvation Army in the west of Scotland, said: “We are honoured to feature in a parliamentary motion commending the work of the Salvation Army. It’s a great testament to our officers, members, staff and volunteers for being at the heart of communities and supporting some of the most vulnerable people in society."
