Salvation Army band perform with veteran welsh entertainer at sell out show

Salvation Brass, a group of friends from around the UK, performed at ‘An Evening with Bryn Yemm and Friends’alongside Welsh entertainer Johnny Tudor, singer Katy Dann and the Kidz R Us Choir. 

Members of Salvation Brass share a common desire for music ministry to be a vibrant offering of worship that inspires and connects with everyone. Every member aim is to be living examples of the love of Christ in the way they live and make music. The 18 piece brass band were personally invited to perform at the sold out event by Bryn Yemm.

Bryn Yemm was adopted into a Salvation Army family in Abergavenny and was first inspired to sing as a singer at Sunday School. Bryn organised the event to support the National Eisteddfod’s presence in his home town. 

Bryn said: “I was adopted by a Salvation Army family; therefore my formative years were spent in the Abergavenny Corps. My adoptive parents and their family were uniformed Salvation Army members. Every time I hear a Salvation Army band something clicks inside me and I get really emotional”.

Dean Jones, Regional Specialist for Music and Creative Arts at the Salvation Army, and leader of Salvation Brass, said: “Salvation Brass are a group who enjoy meeting new people and representing the Salvation Army. The opportunity with Bryn Yemm to support the National Eisteddfod’s presence in Bryn’s home town was welcomed with great excitement and we sincerely enjoyed performing in Abergavenny. The atmosphere was fantastic, especially when we were asked to play the Welsh National Anthem!”
