Salvation Army To Open New Charity Shop In Popular Tonbridge High Street
published on 14 Jul 2017
The Salvation Army will open a new charity shop at 70 High Street, Tonbridge at 10am on Thursday 15th June, adding to the church and charity’s growing portfolio of shops around the UK and Ireland.
To mark the occasion, a ribbon will be cut to officially open the charity shop by local Salvation Army Officers, Majors David and Linda Squirrel and Majors Robert and Julia Jepson, Regional Mission Enablers for the South East Division. The first shoppers will be welcomed with sweets, balloons and smiles from staff and volunteers and the first customer will receive a box of chocolates.
The shop is offering two loyalty schemes for customers. A ‘Re:bag’ can be bought for just 99p. Re:bags can be used to carry donations into the shop. For every Re:bag donation, customers will receive a loyalty card stamp. Every stamp entitles the customer to £2 credit towards a purchase in the shop. In addition to the Re:bag scheme, for every shop purchase over £5, customers will receive a separate loyalty stamp. Collect 10 stamps and the card is worth £5 off another purchase!
Says Salvador Fernandez, Regional Manager; “We have some great loyalty schemes available for customers but our new Tonbridge Charity Shop will not just be a place of commerce, it will be a place of compassion and community as well. It’s a place where people can come and meet with others and always be welcomed with a smile.”
The shop is happy to receive donations to sell in the shop including good quality women’s, men’s and children’s clothing; accessories (including scarves, hats, jewellery, footwear, belts and handbags) and toys. Donations need to be in good condition and we ask that they are handed to staff or volunteers during opening hours as items left outside the shop can get damaged or stolen.
Salvador Fernandez continues:
“There is a lot to do in our shops and we are keen to hear from people who would like to help by volunteering. There are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities available from sorting clothes to working on the till and arranging window displays to collecting donations. Whatever you can offer, we’d love to hear from you!”
The Tonbridge Salvation Army charity shop will be open from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. If you are interested in volunteering at The Salvation Army charity shop, or if you have any goods you would like to donate, please pop into the shop or contact Tracy Skervet, Shop Manager on 01732 363631.
