Salvation Army shield lights up Tower 42 for Big Toy Appeal

published on 1 Nov 2022

The Salvation Army’s red shield logo will be lit up on London’s iconic Tower 42 building this evening to help the church and charity raise awareness of this year’s Big Toy Appeal.

A key part of the City of London skyline, the 183 metre tall skyscraper will be displaying The Salvation Army’s red shield to mark the beginning of the appeal, which will run from 1 - 30 November.

Run in partnership with The Entertainer, the Big Toy Appeal seeks to support families in need over the festive season.

Customers pick up an extra toy to donate when they visit The Entertainer stores or shop online. For every toy donated, The Entertainer will also donate a toy, doubling the number of donations.

Each Entertainer store has been connected with a local Salvation Army church who will collect and distribute the toys through the wider Christmas Present Appeal. This will ensure as many children as possible have the joy of opening a present on Christmas day.

Gary Grant, founder and executive chairman of The Entertainer, said: “At The Entertainer, we believe that every child deserves the gift of play and to enjoy the wonder of Christmas. The Big Toy Appeal is all about making the festive period easier for those families who struggle at Christmas by providing toys to open on the big day.

“Sadly, we know that this will be a really tough Christmas for local families who are struggling with the cost of living, and cannot feed their families, heat their homes or pay their bills. We’re expecting the number of people requesting support to be greater this year, so please help us share some hope this Christmas.”
