The Salvation Army works with some of the most vulnerable people in society. As we face the worst public health crisis in our lifetime, people on the margins need us now more than ever.

From running food banks and checking up on people who live alone, to offering counselling and supporting NHS isolation units, Salvation Army churches all over the country are responding to the crisis in dozens of different ways.

Our church will be gathering at;

Hafan Yr Afon, Car Park, Back Lane, Newtown SY16 2NH 

From 9.30 – 10.30: We are meeting in the Café area of Hafan Yr Afon for tea / coffee and conversation. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us at a table in this open, accessible space where you might be treated to a piano rendition from a toddler or a wagging tail of one the four legged visitors. We’d love to meet you and for you to meet us. 

10.30-11.30am: At 10.30 we go upstairs for gathered worship and a look at the Bible. Some of us have paper Bibles, some of us use our mobile devices to read from and then we try and apply what we’ve read to our everyday waking, eating, sleeping lives regardless of our ages or abilities. 

Once a month we meet at Costa for our Cafe Church gathering, 3-4pm. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for updates!!

Baby Basics provides essential equipment, clothing and toiletries to women and families in extreme need via midwives, health visitors and other professional groups.

How we can help you:

If you are in real crisis and in need of food, then one of the local agencies can refer you to Newtown Food Bank who will make you an appointment

Once this is done, the Food Bank will provide you and your dependents with an emergency supply  of up to 3 days of basic foodstuffs

How you can help us

Newtown Food Bank relies solely on your goodwill and donations are always welcome of any of the following:

Food – We welcome any donations of non-perishable food such as tinned fruit, vegetables or meat/fish, pasta and rice, jars or packets of cooking sauces, long-life UHT milk, cereals, tea, coffee and sugar

Money – This can help provide for purchases of the above, and of fresh foods such as bread.
