Supporting struggling families
The Salvation Army helps struggling families across the UK regardless of their circumstances and without judgement. We do whatever we can to provide them with the support they need.
The Salvation Army work hard year-round to make sure that the most vulnerable people are not forgotten about. During the difficult last 18 months we’ve continued to be there for families providing food parcels, support for single parents and electricity top ups. With the help of our supporters and dedicated volunteers we’re able to help families in need every day of the year.
One of our centres in Reading runs a lunch club for families who have been referred to The Salvation Army. The service was set up one day a week to meet the demand in school holidays, however due to high demand the service was increased to meet the need. Not only does the lunch club provide a meal, but also provides activities for children and a place to form friendships.
Reading is just one example of a Salvation Army centre that runs a lunch club, however many of our other centres run them too, alongside food parcel provision, debt advice and various other services that support struggling parents and families.
