The Salvation Army has served Watford since 1883. We have recommitted ourselves to our original mission:

• To serve others without discrimination
• To nurture disciples of Jesus
• To care for creation
• To seek justice and reconciliation

In October 2019, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, we decided to re-plant our church. Our earnest desire is to be a loving and relevant expression of The Salvation Army and we have been carefully and prayerfully exploring Jesus' will for us. It's been an exciting journey so far ... and it's not over yet!

Watford Salvation Army has not closed. In fact, we are more engaged with our town than we have been for many years. We remain committed to serving the people of Watford in Jesus name, and we welcome input from our local community to help shape future plans. We are so excited to be writing this new chapter - and we want you to be part of it.

We are here to support disadvantaged children and struggling families. Working in partnership with local schools and agencies, we have distributed well over 700 recipe boxes and 380 shopping vouchers - feeding more than 4,320 people 38,880 meals - since March 2020. We estimate that around 60% have been children under the age of 18 living in poverty and hardship.

A clothing bank is situated outside of our hall in St Albans Road. You can drop off any unwanted clothes, shoes or household textiles there 24/7. We recommend that you pack donations in smaller bags rather than larger bags because they are easier to deposit.

Everything you donate is re-sold, reused or recycled, helping us lessen our impact on the environment while raising money to support our work. Click here for more information.

Unfortunately we cannot accept any secondhand toys, bric-a-brac or electrical items. We are also unable to collect donations.

Watford Salvation Army is a welcoming, accessible and well-equipped activity venue. Free WiFi can be accessed throughout the building and parking is located nearby. We are delighted to be able to offer a range of rooms for regular hire. Please note that we cannot accept single bookings, such as children's parties or anniversary celebrations, at this time.

COMMUNITY HALL

The Community Hall is perfect for smaller groups - up to 40 people - such as exercise classes, social clubs and business meetings. It can be set up to suit a variety of gatherings. The Community Hall includes a kitchenette with cafe bar, flat screen television, audio facilities, sofas, conference tables and an upright piano.

LOUNGE

The Lounge is suitable for one to one sessions. Comfortable armchairs, a flexible workstation and beautiful artwork make the Lounge a pleasant space to spend time in.

KITCHEN

The Kitchen is equipped with a double oven, six ring gas hob, microwave, water heater, large fridge freezer, cooking equipment and dinnerware. A serving hatch opens on to the foyer.

PATIO GARDEN

The Patio Garden is a small but peaceful area with a sensory bench, raised beds, patio furniture, wind chime and hopscotch. It is ideal for BBQs.

ACCESS

Our entire building is accessible to people with reduced mobility and wheelchair users. We are also making improvements for people experincing sight loss. Our disabled toilet has nappy changing facilities.

HOURLY RATES (UP TO MARCH 2025)

• We offer a 25% discount to registered charities and block bookings of six or more dates.
• Bookings will not be confirmed until full payment is made.
• A one-off fee of £30 may apply for a key-holder to open and close the building when it is used outside of normal business hours.
• We will do our utmost to meet your needs. Additional equipment and services (e.g. flip charts, photocopying, gas BBQ) are available on request for an additional fee.
• Please note that no alcohol, tobacco or gambling is permitted on the premises.
• Your deposit will be returned to you after your booking ends if the building is left in a satisfactory condition.
