Feeding families in Watford

The Salvation Army in Watford has packed 150 ‘Basics food boxes’ to support more than 600 parents and children during social distancing. The food supplies are distributed through an existing network of schools and partner organisations. This local networked team identifies families who are already in crisis, or barely just managing. 

Church leader, Captain Mark Scoulding, said: “We urgently need to support families in Watford. Those just about managing previously will not manage now. We need to show compassion and kindness in these days. Many people are under enormous pressure and stress, not knowing where the next meal will come from. We would like to thank all those who volunteer with us and donate to keep families fed in Watford”. The church was already actively supporting local families struggling to feed their children during school holidays before coronavirus took hold in the UK. The corps supplied, ‘Recipe boxes’, containing everything families needed to make healthy meals, so that children didn’t go hungry without free school meals.
