Preston Salvation Army takes Sunday worship online

Preston Salvation Army takes Sunday worship online for the local community.

The Salvation Army in Preston has adapted its coronavirus response to include its Sunday worship online for the local Lancashire community.

Following the Government’s guidelines on social distancing, The Salvation Army Preston, located on Harrington Street, took the decision to move its regular Sunday worship to a digital platform to ensure the community can still join in the regular church service.

Streamed on the Facebook Live platform, the service takes place weekly at 11:00 am until 12:30 pm and is an interactive provision as questions and suggestions can be posed during the worship along with prayer requests and celebration suggestions.

Sunday Worship is live streamed from the church and community centre’s main hall by the church leaders; Captains Dominic and Debbie Eaton. Captain Dominic said: “This is an entirely new way of doing things but it’s important for church to continue and we wanted to broadcast Sunday worship from the hall to give people familiarity in these already unnerving times; to create a sense of normality for all in a constantly changing world.

“Live streaming is an important element for us to still be able to gather as a church and community even when we are scattered and far apart. For us, it is also enabling us to reach and interact with members of the community we wouldn’t normally, those that don’t or aren’t able to come to church.”

Regular live streaming of The Salvation Army in Preston’s Sunday worship is already well underway and has seen viewers join from all over Lancashire and even from other areas such as Greater Manchester.
