The Salvation Army in Oldham delivers hope to local children during Holy Week.

The Salvation Army in Oldham uses generous donation to give hope to local children during Holy Week.

The Salvation Army Oldham Fitton Hill received a generous donation to contribute to its coronavirus response to support the local community during the pandemic.

Oldham Fitton Hill church and community centre chose to spend part of the funds on creating Easter celebration packs for Oldham children, spreading hope to all.

In total 220 Easter celebration packs were produced for the local community which included an Easter egg, craft activity pack and essential food supplies for all the family.

Major Estelle Blake, leader of The Salvation Army Oldham Fitton Hill said: “Some of the children may not understand or even know what is going on in the outside world but it’s important to remember that their worlds have also been turned upside down and they too have had to adapt to a new way of living.

“This donation has enabled us to provide essential food items and fun activities to support local children and their families to let them know that they are not forgotten and that these times will get brighter once again.”

The Salvation Army Oldham Fitton Hill is one of five of the charity’s expressions in the area which also include; Oldham Citadel, Oldham Roundthorn, Shaw and Failsworth. The Easter celebration packs were distributed during holy week which takes place from Palm Sunday to the day before Easter Sunday.
