Watford team deliver essential food boxes

The Salvation Army in Watford has prepared boxes of essential items for vulnerable families in their community following the coronavirus lock down. Volunteers are working with partners in their local schools and other agencies to ensure that disadvantaged families don't go without in the coming weeks. 

Lieutenant Mark Scoulding, The Salvation Army's leader in Watford said: "Each of our boxes contains as many essentials as we could get hold of as well as a little encouraging note from us.  There is a whole range of goodies in the box including cereal, noodles, tea and coffee, fruit juice, sugar and we've also included some extra things for the kids to try to keep them up beat such as some hot chocolate and a little bag of craft items.   

"Many of the families referred to us were already struggling so when the schools closed and children could no longer have the usual cooked meal at lunchtime, we knew we had to step in. 

Our box of food supplies will go a little way to helping families at this time."
